Foreword

Skald (skaldlogs.com) is a WoW WotLK 3.3.5 combat log analyzer for raid leaders. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Data we collect

We collect the minimum data strictly required for the service to work:

  • Account: your email address and a hashed password (via Supabase Auth), only if you sign up.
  • Uploaded logs: contents of the .skald.json files you transfer, plus metadata (size, date, server, guild). These logs are public by default.
  • Visit stats: page path, browser, approximate country, hashed IP (SHA256 + day) — raw IP is never stored.
  • Optional submissions: server requests, bug reports including their textual content.

Cookies we use

Skald only uses essential cookies required for the service to function:

  • sb-* (Supabase Auth)Keeps your session signed in. Required if you use authentication.
  • NEXT_LOCALERemembers your preferred language. Stored for 1 year.
  • skald_sessionLocal random identifier (sessionStorage) used to dedupe page views. Cleared when the browser closes.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

Skald displays ads provided by Google AdSense to cover hosting costs. Google and its partners use cookies and identifiers to serve relevant ads based on your previous visits to Skald and other websites.

For visitors from the European Union, the UK and Switzerland, a consent banner managed by Google (Funding Choices) lets you accept or reject personalized ads. If you reject, non-personalized ads will be shown.

You can manage your ad preferences at any time from Google Ads settings. More details on Google's ad practices.

Visit statistics

To understand site usage, we measure page views via an internal page_views table. Your IP is hashed (SHA256 with the day as salt) before storage: re-identification is impossible after 24h. No data is sent to a third-party analytics service.

Hosting and infrastructure

The site is hosted on Vercel (USA / European Union). Application data (accounts, uploaded logs) is stored at Supabase (European Union). Both providers are joint data controllers.

Your rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right to access your personal data.
  • Right to rectify inaccurate information.
  • Right to deletion (account + log removal).
  • Right to portability (retrieve your data in a structured format).
  • Right to object to processing (in particular, to personalized ads).

To exercise these rights, write to <email/>.

Retention period

Uploaded logs are kept as long as your account is active or until you delete them. Visit stats are kept for max 12 months. Inactive accounts are deleted after 3 years of inactivity.
